Composing a Scene

Session Review & Analysis

Returning to the classroom after a period of rest, this particular session investigating on what composes a scene was interesting and incredibly usefully to me. Since the knowledge I will gain from this lecture can be applied to my final 3d model renders and perhaps create more captivating renders.

Gladiator (2000)
Figure A

Observing figure a in closer detail suggests that the main character Maximus is facing in;however, compared to previous posters I have studied such as the Indiana Jones: The Crystal Skull poster his characters' eyes are not directed towards the audience.

Train Spotting (1996)

Figure B

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - Merry and Pippin Poster (2003)

Figure C
Moreover, this particular poster of the characters Merry and Pippin from the Lord of the Rings trilogy demonstrate their close friendship judging from how close both Hobbits stand next to one another.  Furthermore, a closer study of their eye expressions suggests both characters are alerted to the imposing danger in front of them although Merry (left) appears to be more protective over his friend Pippin (right) since both his eyes and blade are raised higher which could also demonstrate who the dominate figure is in the poster as well.

Compared to Pippin, who appears to have a nervous expression moulded onto his face and his blade is raised lower which can mean he is prepared to fight but is reluctant to.

Djanga Unchained (2012)

Figure D

The Last King of Scotland (2006)

Figure E
